Our planet has some very remote places where to reach is the dream of every traveler. The great rock of Uluru in the heart of Australia, Ushuaia as the southernmost city on the planet or Deadhorse at the other end of the continent located on the shores of the Arctic Sea were some of the checkpoints of our journey on motorcycle around the world.
Getting there is special because you are surrounded for an amazing landscape where you feel far from everything, because the sacrifices and suffering that could cost you to reach that place get a meaning and specialy because you can absorb the energy and dreams, sometimes expressed with messages on some rock or signal, that left other travelers who arrived there before you, a source of extra power to return to the route thinking in a new destination.
But by the time we arrived at Cape Agulhas it was not just about one more remote destination. From this the southernmost point of Africa we began our final stage of the world tour, to cross our last continent on the way back to Europe where ends this great dream.
Each traveler can have a different feeling from the same place, but also the same person can have different experiences in the same place depending on the time of their life when they visit it, the only thing clear is that is the place the only thing that does not change.
In such a moment for us, before to start rinding into Africa we must reload motivations and Cape Agulhas looks the right place for it, a corner from where we can see two immense oceans connecting.
First we look to the East and we remember that on the other side of the Indian Ocean is Asia, the continent that a few years ago saw our adventure begin, we were a young couple without experience riding motorbikes and with no sponsors but believing that the illusion we had for to see the world was enough to achieve our dream. And then we look to the West where on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean we still feel very recent the America that we just left behind. Same travel project but a completely different journey. America from South to North were transforming us into professional storytellers, teaching us to appreciate what we were doing and to see how we could generate incomes with our experience to be able to keep self-financing the trip.
So we arrive at Cabo de Agujas to see how our feelings collide as well as the waters of these two great oceans with currents, temperatures and colors so different, confused for to know what kind of traveler we wanted to be before entering Africa, although in the end we stopped looking left or right and in the center of that place where the two oceans mix the water get a new color.
In every stage of our life we learn new things, combining them is what will make us discover new motivations and goals.
At that time our trip on a new continent has just begun, then many things happened and you can start discovering them with the list of the 8 destinations in East Africa that we recommend in our next post
