Always one cup of caffe/tea and one glass of lemon juice with water. While riding Always is important to have some nuts with us (almonds, pistachos, raisins…). How we use to travel by small roads and villages we stop in local markets to buy natural products like honey, cheese, vegetables and fruits. Also we always have with us energy bars, some piece of bread and peanut butter. In that way we always eat seasonal local fruits and vegetables. There are better, healthier, cheaper and also it helps to protect the environment. Cans are also a great option, like cans of tuna or beans, we call those the emergency food that don’t get broken, and don’t take a lot space with us and there are some really good brads with no conservatives or additives. A SHAKE TO TAKE ON THE BACKPACK FOR EVERY ADVENTURE

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="2/3"][vc_column_text] One of the most common questions people ask us is about food. Food is on fashion and it seems curious to know how some travelers like us can keep a balanced diet, another times the curiosity is just about to know to how we cook day by day when we travel by motorcycle and live practically in a tent. Yes, the trip ended up changing completely our habits for eating, first we quit the sugar and everything that contains it in excess like soft drinks. The sugar that we need comes directly and only from the fruits. We also stop consuming processed products and especially the industrial bakery. Small changes with a great impact that completely changed our life. We felt better, more agile, we woke up better and with more desire to do things. We also learned to eat lighter so we avoid heavy digestion, we went from making 3 strong meals a day to eating lightly about 5 times. But the truth is that sometimes the day is more intense than normal and we need an extra dose of energy so we started looking for that nutritional supplement we could include in our diet, as long as it fulfilled these 3 requirements: Easy and fast to prepare Composed only of natural products That is easy to transport, without needing to be refrigerated We did not want the popular protein shakes, composed of synthesized molecules and artificial flavors, of course we neither like that they were so sweet. But then we discovered a product that was the ideal. The first thing that attracted us was its name, it seemed destined to be our best travel companion, the GAIA MEAL shakes. In one shot we could consume 15 superfoods and natural proteins, none of them genetically modified and…

KEEP CALM, IT’S ONLY CANCER

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="2/3"][vc_column_text] It is clear that we are a couple who like challenges because of the way we have chosen to live. We love going out to look for them and find a way to overcome them, we look for challenges all over the world from the highest mountains to the driest deserts. Cancer is our new challenge That's why the day after finishing our journey around the world on motorcycle we started working on our new travel project. Now we wanted to travel in a 4x4 van because like that we could reach to even more remote places and stay there for a longer time, but suddenly Manu was diagnosed with bladder cancer and we had to, temporarily, cancel everything to take care of this unknown test. It is a rare situation because there is no uncomfortable or painful symptom, perhaps the worst is how it seemed that now we did not have control over our lives and everything depended on a hospital protocol where the doctors decided where and when we had to be. Now our trips were only to go to the hospital for surgery and treatments. From an independent, creative and nomadic lifestyle we suddenly find ourselves trapped in a city where our trips now are only until the hospital for surgery and treatments. Yes, the psychological aspect was the great challenge of this cancer and we have to recognize that the shock affected us at the beginning. It seemed that everything we had built was demolished although we quickly discovered that if we controlled our mind we would win the battle. We started working on it and we prepared ourselves to face this new reality, temporary of course like I always try to remember to myself: We became vegetarians, we bet for vegetables, grains, legumes,…

THE BEST BREAKFAST FOR TRAVELERS

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="2/3"][vc_column_text] One of the first lessons we learned on the road is that traveling requires an extra energy. Maybe at the beginning we did not notice it because of the excitement of the trip but as time went by each day it was harder for us to get up, pack our tent, prepare our bags on the motorcycle and travel a few hundred kilometers until we reach a new destination and search a place to spend the night. Sometimes we ride through areas in the rainy season, others times it would be deserts with a lot of wind although the worst for us it was when we had to climb the mountains where temperatures fell very much below zero. The accumulated fatigue is a silent enemy that suddenly appears with fevers, vomiting and general destabilization of the body, and if it last for a long time it could end up in something much more serious. The solution is in the food, especially in starting the day with the appropriate breakfast. The body is going to need energy but we can not start abusing the food to avoid heavy digestion before throwing ourselves on the road. Then we discovered that the ideal breakfast for us was a Super Porridge where is mixed many different ingredients that will help us to enough power for the physical effort of the trip. These are the ingredients of our breakfast that completely changed the way we travel: 1. ALMOND MILK (preferably homemade) Reduces bad cholesterol and has essential fatty acids for the heart Good for treating diarrhea and vomiting 2. OATS Facilitates intestinal transit and regulates blood sugar levels Cleans the liver and facilitates the elimination of toxins 3. RIPE BANANA Prevents cancer Helps to relax and maintain a healthy balance of body fluids…

But we also like the social aspect of drinking coffee, and it was in Eastern Europe where we could start sharing coffee with people. Greek or Turkish coffee, however you want to call it, is not a beverage to be drank alone. It takes times, first to let the finely grounded coffee beans fall to the bottom of the cup, then to drink it with small shots and finally even you can read your future by throwing what is left on the table. By the time we arrive to Indonesia we could discover one of the more exotic and expensive coffee in the world, the one which locals take the poop of wild tigers. [vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width="2/3"][vc_column_text] To keep the lifestyle that we have for the last 10 years traveling to the most remote places of every continent we understand there is a very important thing we need to worry about, and that is that we must to care for our bodies. Since long ago we already decided to be aware of what we eat and to add exercise as part of daily routine, but beside that, and specially in moments like today when we are preparing for a ambitious travel project, is definitely necessary to have a good check once in a while. The last 4 years we were riding our motrocycle and exposing ourselves to a different eviroments so now, if we want to succeed with the new challenges we are going to face next, we need to check our lungs and see if is all good after crossing the wet rainforests of South East Asia or breathing the tiny dust of the biggest deserts in Africa, have a look in our blood to see if there are any remains of some of the bacteria or tropical viruses that were surrounded us, test our exhausted muscles or the condition of the bones we broke in some of our falls. To complete a new circle around the world on a classic 30 years old 4x4 van as we are planning,  not only the van need to have a good service. That´s why we trust on Neuromedica and we deal with them the best check possible from us before hitting the road again. Finally after all the test, and surprisingly for our doctors, we are much better than what they were expecting after such intense journeys. Maybe not being so obsessively hygienic, exposing ourselves to different environments and bacteria allowed our own bodies to create…
